'not falling but flying' etching

£125.00
DESCRIPTION

The title of an artwork is most of the time a bit tricky. For me it’s usually something that has to be dealt with at the end.
This print and his brother, the one titled ‘not flying but falling’, are exceptions.
When the idea was just in my sketchbook the title appeared on the page. It was a variation of the title of the poem “not waving but drowning”. I discovered that I could go two ways with the wording: one hopeful and one despairing. In the end they work well as a pair.
This print is a small two plate etching on thick Somerset acid free paper titled ‘not falling but flying’.
