Maud and the Crayfish
DESCRIPTION
This is a monoprint from the picture book ‘Simma lugnt Mörten Maud’, written by Stefan Casta.
Because the story was set under water I wanted there to be as little clear lines as possible. So I made it as complicated as I could to do solid thin lines by using a printmaking technique called monoprinting. This way of monoprinting you use a plastic sheet as your plate. You draw up the image on the back of the plastic, and on the front you add thin transparant layers of ink. You build up the image the same way you would make a water-colour-painting, but using a big printmaking press.
There are an edition of twelve of these prints, but because of the technique they are really quite different.
