The New York Cab-hailing Project

During my first month in New York I settled for a theme of trying to capture all the different ways of hailing a cab.

The summer of 2012 I spent in New York. My girlfriend was in a show on Broadway, so for 5 months I was a kept man with a life of cycling, take-outs, bagels, capoeira, and sushi. But also a lot of printmaking. I got a scholarship at Manhattan Graphics Centre, where I learned both paper lithography and Japanese woodcut printing. It was like being back in college again. In the paper-lithography-course there was a little core group that got quite obsessed with printing.

During my first month in NY I settled for a theme of trying to capture all the different ways of hailing a cab. Whenever I needed more inspiration for another print I would get on my bike with my sketchbook in my pocket and cycle around Manhattan and draw.

Prints for sale.

All of these prints are for sale. They are all in a small edition of either 15 or 30. And all the paper-lithography prints are unique. Some have been added to the shop, but if there is a particular one you are interested in then send me a message.
