The Stefan Casta Collaborations

Mr Raf(svart-vit).png

It was the writer Stefan Cast who first got me published in Sweden.

Gå och bada Mister Räf!

This was the first book we created together and it was my first ever published picture book.
I was so proud. This book won me ‘Elsa Beskow Plaketten’, which is the Swedish Library Association’s award for the best illustrations of that year.

A book filled with Monoprints.

The second picture book we created was called ‘Simma lugnt Mörten Maud’ and it was set in a murky little lake.

‘Sjung för mig pappa’

The third picture book with Stefan Casta.

From a different perspective.

This book was about a bird who travelled high and low trying to understand why her new-born didn’t want to eat anything.
I wanted this book to have a different feel and perspective to the other two books. Big landscapes. Scenery seen from the air. A feeling of flying.
My research took me up in a small propeller-plane with only seating for me and the pilot. The first and only time I’ve flown a plane.
I wanted there to be lots of details in the landscape to imitate the sharp eyesight of a bird. To achieve this I chose to scale up my prints, so that when they got reduced down to the size of the book there would be more details.

Prints for sale.

Quite a few of the prints from these three books can be found in the shop. But if there is one that you can’t find and you are interested in, then send me a message.
