Procastination projects.

These projects are what happen in between. When something else probably should get one's attention, but instead you find yourself carving the handle of a fork.

My parents have a summerhouse in Sweden where I spent hours upon hours carving wooden things. When I was younger it was mostly weapons that I could play with later. Then it evolved into little figures and faces.

I recently got introduced to carving in wax by my friend Caro Rose. The wax-figures get sent away, and a few weeks later, like a miracle, you get a little bronze-sculpture in the post.

Things in wood.

Wood is a great material to work with. It has its own character and qualities. You first realise what you can and can't do once you start working with your piece of wood. Which means you have to roll with the punches. There is no point planning out exactly what you want it to look like. You are better off just whittling away and see what appears. A bit like doodling, which I'm a strong advocate for, but with a different kind of material at hand.
